This text amends previous legilsations to: implement Australia’s commitment to phase-down import, export and production of hydrofluorocarbons from 1 January 2018, in advance of the global phase-down implemented under the Montreal Protocol, as amended by the Kigali Amendment; amend provisions in relation to the hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) phase-out and prohibit the use of new HCFCs from 1 January 2020 other than for permitted uses; implement Australia’s obligations under the Kyoto Protocol to regulate two newly listed synthetic greenhouse gases; amend provisions in relation to equipment bans and ensure that the provisions apply consistently to all entities regulated under the Act; and amend provisions in relation to licensing and reporting requirements.
